This Wednesday 20th June at 9pm ET I’m guest hosting #Winechat on Twitter! Join us as we explore the Wines of Puglia, Italy! We’ll sip, chat & tweet wines from the heel of the boot, the largest producer of wine in Italy. It’s one of my new favorite wine regions discovered last year on our week long trip there.

What is #Winechat? #Winechat is a chat on Twitter that occurs every Wednesday night from 9-10pm EST (6-7PST). Each week we discuss a different topic or talk with different guests. You don’t have to be a total wine geek to join – you must just have a thirst to learn and chat about wine!

How do you join #Winechat? Using a tool such as Tweetdeck or Hootsuite, log into your twitter account and follow the #winechat stream. Be sure to include #winechat at the end of each tweet so everyone in the stream can see you! New to Twitter? Go to the bottom of the page to get some more details on what to do!

Where do I find a wine from Puglia? The native grape varieties grown in Puglia are Primitivo, Negroamaro and Nero di Troia for red wines and Bombino Bianco and Malvasia Bianco for white wines. The most widely available tend to be red wines, Primitivo and Negroamaro. I found these two wines at Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods this weekend.

Thank you to Marie with Life of Vines for having me as guest host!

Grab a bottle of Primitivo, Negroamaro, Nero di Troia or any other wine from the region and join us Wednesday night! As it’s a hot one here on the East Coast, I’ll be opening a Negroamaro Rosé from Tenute Rubino and Fiano from Tenute Girolamo. I’ve also seen Tormaresca Puglia Chardonnay available at restaurants and shops locally. Snooth also has lots of white suggestions.

I look forward to opening some of my favorites to share with you.
