…a reason to enjoy getting to the airport early!  Thanks to Vino Volo, a wine bar open only in airports who’s name actually means ‘wine flight’ in Italian, you can.

On a recent trip out of Dulles International Airport outside Washington, DC, I was thrilled to find Vino Volo close to my gate. Its a true oasis in the terminal … you walk in and forget your in an airport as you sit down in one of their comfy leather chairs to enjoy a glass of wine in the warm environment.

Vino Volo’s “goal is to bring the world of wine tasting and retail wine sales to where it is most convenient for air travelers. Our innovative wine tasting restaurant and retail stores are specifically designed for passengers and our website is available to continue serving them even after they leave the airport.”

They offer 25-40 wines by the glass (you can also buy a bottle of each wine offered to go) and a great selection of wine flights, like Rhone Rangers or others with a local spin like I Love New York.  I enjoyed the local Taste of Virginia flight introducing me to a few new wines (like the Gadino Cellars 2009 Viognier) and I paired it with their yummy Penne & Cheese (white cheddar, smoked gouda, truffle oil & penne). Each wine flight comes with a great presentation and information card on each wine that uses their Vino Chart to describe the wine and allow you to easily compare what you’re drinking.

Stop into one of their 10 U.S. locations for a glass before your next flight. Cheers!
