Caudalie Vinothérapie® Spas have added to their spa family opening their fifth spa in the beautiful new Yeatman Hotel in Oporto, Portugal. While I haven’t yet experienced it (the spa opened last week, hotel opened 26 September), reading their website, brochure and looking at the pictures has me wanting to pack my bags for my first trip to Portugal!

The Yeatman, a 5 star luxury wine hotel, aims to provide guests with the very best authentic experience of the Oporto city, Port wine and Portuguese wines. Because not only is the hotel located in the historic heart of Vila Nova de Gaia next to the ancient ‘lodges’ where Port houses have aged their wines for over three centuries but the Yeatman family has been in the Port trade since 1838 and owns 3 of the most famous Port companies.

This little known destination is the place to go if you want to explore Port wine. The city of Oporto is a UNESCO World Heritage City and the main center of northern Portugal sitting on the River Duoro only seven kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean and its beaches. You can take a river cruise 100 kilometers down the river to the Port Wine Region and catch a historic 1870 train back.

The Yeatman takes wine, food and relaxation very seriously. Wine Director, Beatriz Machado, oversees a 20,000 bottle cellar focused on Portuguese wine and leading Portugal chef Ricardo Costa is executive of the two kitchens. Both come together in a great list of wine and food events. And many of the partner wineries have even sponsored suites.

“To create an oasis of serenity and wellbeing on their seven acre property, welcome The Caudalie Vinothérapie® Spa at The Yeatman. Its tranquil setting, evocative of the elemental spirit of wine, includes ten therapy rooms where guests can relax and enjoy Caudalie’s unique Vinothérapie® care and treatment programmes, including barrel bath immersions, relaxing Merlot Wrap massage and other signature body and facial treatments. The products are based on natural ingredients drawn from the vineyard environment and valued for their anti-oxidant properties and contribution to beauty, wellness and vitality.” There are also pools, Roman bath, sauna, shower experience and hammam.

Check out their website if you’d like to take a break or plan your trip to Oporto (September looks like a good month as its harvest time). Also see my posts on Les Sources de Caudalie, the original Vinothérapie® Spa in Bordeaux.
