Last night I stopped downstairs into my local Whole Foods and they were having a Champagne Tasting. Yes please! I’m definitely a bubbly fan although my favorite sparking beverage is Prosecco (Italian Sparkling Wine, fruity & bright, usually a great price point around $12). I’d never been into champagne, probably too many cheapo bottles on New Year’s Eves, until I tried the good stuff one year for my Dad’s 60th birthday, Dom Perignon. Then I knew what champagne should taste like and why all the fuss. But who can spend $130 on a bottle very often!? I also like Veuve Clicquot, much more affordable at $40-ish a bottle. But last night I found my new favorite…

Louis de Sacy Brut Grand Cru! Its a beautiful golden color (love the bottle that lets it shine through) with very fine bubbles (which I like). The nose and taste are red fruits, citrus and herbs. Its not too dry and just tastes fabulous… like a step between Prosecco and Dom Perignon. And its only $36.99 at Whole Foods.

The Sacy family has been in the champagne business since 1633… Alain Sacy is now the 12th generation wine grower in charge. Its a blend of three grapes: 60% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Meunier.

Enjoying a glass right now…cheers to Halloween Weekend!
